My name is Peggy Kesterson. I am a compassionate, qualified tutor who can help your child learn to read. I’ve taught for over 20 years in the elementary classroom, with experience in grades Pre-K through 5. Having received training in teaching dyslexic students from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education, I have successfully utilized their methods both in the classroom and in private tutoring of dyslexic students. This methodology, which uses the Orton-Gillingham method, is a wonderful way to teach all students to read. The Orton-Gillingham method is the only scientifically-proven way to successfully teach dyslexic children to read.

 

 I’ve spent over half my teaching career laying the foundation for reading in the Pre K and Kindergarten levels. Every child has their own unique gifts and learning styles. I evaluate each child to tailor lessons to their own level, learning style, and pace. I make sure every child gets the phonemic awareness (breaking the sounds apart) and phonics skills they need to succeed at reading.
